Day 2 (Tuesday)
We took Noah and Levi to see their school. They met both of their teachers and got all of their uniforms. They are starting school on Monday and I believe they are as ready to start as I am. That night we went to Moon River Diner for dinner which is similar to a 50's diner. We had burgers and shakes. What we didn't know was that Tuesdays are teacher days at that diner, so all of the teachers get a discount. Both of Noah and Levi's teachers were there, so we got to talk to them both in a different setting. It was neat for the boys to see them again. They are both very nice. Earlier in the day we went to a walking street called Nanjing(sp)Rd. We are truly a freak show. I believe if I understood Mandarin I would hear them saying, "Look at that chubby, streaked hair lady with the magical womb." I get the thumbs up where ever I go. People point, count the boys, hold up four fingers and then give me the thumbs up. Twins are really something here. They all dream of having twins because it is the only acceptable way to have more than one child. In their eyes we are very blessed to have three boys and a girl. We ate at McDonald's today and Jacob liked the Big Mac better than at home. Later, we went to Dairy Queen. You would think that a blizzard is a blizzard wherever you go, and for the most part it was. However, they had a few new flavors such as green tea red bean blizzard. Yes, that is one flavor not two. Sounds yummy huh?!?
Day 3
We took Elise and Jacob to their school yesterday. They had a tour, received their uniforms and Jacob met his teacher and she gave him homework already! She didn't want him to be so far behind in a book that the class is reading. I think he was actually glad for something to do.
Three Dow Corning ladies met me at our apartment today and went through it with a fine tooth comb. They knew what problems they had encountered when they moved in and it was helpful to find things that were wrong before we moved in. They took me out for coffee then at the coffee beanery. It was a nice break in the middle of the day. Last night we went to our friend's the Hoag's house for dinner. It was nice to be with people who are like minded and have been here for a little bit. All of our kids fell asleep at their house at 8:00. So we had to wake them up and walk home. We are all still falling asleep early and waking up early, but are adjusting a little bit every day.
Yesterday, I interviewed two ladies to be my ayi. My friend Kelly came over and helped me. We decided that neither lady was a good option. It is really a trip trying to communicate with the language barrier. Kelly went home and asked her ayi if she had any friends who wanted to be an ayi, so on Monday I will be interviewing another lady. In China, it is really best to hire someone who is a friend of a friend. Everything is about relationships. So hopefully this lady will be a better option.
Our driver's name is Hang Lei. He is 27 and seems to be a very good driver. We are very pleased with him so far.
We are so grateful for friends who are already here and have helped us so much already and we are grateful for friends at home who we know are praying for us daily. Please don't stop. We love you all and will write as often as possible. We can't always get to our blog to update it, because some days it is blocked. That's just life in China. Not weird just different.

I keep thinking what time it is for you guys and think about what you might be doing. etc. etc.
I'm not sure I would like all those people pointing and saying things aobut me....but, the magical womb thing is kind of cool! You fertile Mertle, you! LOL
