First day of school

Four kids went off to school today in their new uniforms, shoes and backpacks. Four kids came home from school today with homework, stories to tell and smiles on their faces. All in all it seemed to be a really good day for all of them. Jacob and his friend Alex from Midland and another boy Zach have been named the pretty boys in 6th grade. Elise made a new friend whose name is Natalie and she has a twin brother named Jacob. I recognized her parents name from church so maybe this is the friend that God has for Elise. Noah and Levi liked their school as well but it takes about 40 minutes to get their. We will be glad when they are all at the same school. While the kids were at school and Mark went to work, I hired my ayi, went shopping for cleaning supplies with two of my friends and went to a tea for mom's with 14 year old kids. It was actually pretty neat how it worked out because I wasn't invited until the last minute and when I showed up I found out it was for mom's of 14 year olds. It's neat how God works because I had been praying a lot for friends for Elise. The boys all know so many boys from Midland and they all played football Saturday afternoon at school for 2 hours. Boys just make friends differently than girls.
Another neat God moment was when I opened an email from my sister and read it. Yesterday, when we got home from church I was feeling a little sorry for myself because church wasn't quite up to par in what I was expecting, but my sister wondered what our sermon was about. Well the funny thing is, is it was about how Jesus' triumphant entry was much like a parade. Hmm... the same thing that was preached at Midland Free. You may not think this was a God moment but I know it was a little gift from Him just for me.
Tomorrow my ayi Hong starts working for us. I'm pretty sure she's never seen so much laundry. She knows very little English and I know even less Mandarin, but I guess between charades and our dictionaries, we should be able to get something done.
My kids all found that they really weren't behind in school, but that they were right on or a little bit ahead. So that was a very good thing.
Well I'm off to iron uniform bottoms....did I mention that my ayi starts tomorrow:)
Much love to all.

Hey! I beat Betsy to the comment section! (Hi Betsy, wish you were here) Glad things are falling into place. Miss you, friend, but that's a given. I covered it on Sunday with you sister, Beth..I'm good for while. Mark, NASCAR is boring without the harassment. Harvick bowed out early at Martinsville, not sure why-cable was out! USA isn't grand all the time either.

I think I want an ayi for me! She could do the laundry, iron, and scrub the toilets! Ahhh the life....Glad to hear school is going well. I have been praying for all the kiddos! Isn't that something that Elise's friend is named Natalie with a twin named Jacob. Do the boys walk to school or does the driver take them? Just curious...

love you all...deb
