weekend whits and woes

Hello all
Well if this comes across in chinese I am truly sorry. Our wireless hasn't been working for a day or so and now I think it's fixed but everything is in chinese. Yikes, I'm pretty clueless about this language.
Ok, first of all I need to respond to a few of the comments. Aunt Carol, I'm hoping that God and I are on the same page that the Berg quiver is really quite full.:) Not that they aren't beautiful, wonderful, whitty children but they really cost a small fortune to keep around:)(not that I don't want them around)
Betsy, I will try to keep my titles shorter, however that being sad, I must confess that often times a situation will remind me of a particular song and I just have to belt it out. Even if it is on my computer. Just ask my sister's and my karaoke sisters(that would be Mark's sisters). They all know how it is with me because they are a lot like me.
Ok, for my weekend wits and woes.
Saturday was a lovely relaxing day as we got up in our HOME. I never thought that would be such a beautiful word. The kids were really quite content to hang out and I'm not sure Elise wanted to come out of her room. Let's face it, it really got old for her sleeping in the kitchen.
I love my new home however there is one thing that I'm not quite so keen on. That is my glass shower, now there's a vision!!! I'm pretty sure Confuscious would say, "When in glass shower, keep bathroom door locked. So I do!
Mark and I decided to go to IKEA and buy some stuff for our house. Well let's just say that was quite a mistake. Invision your self as a little white pinball (and the only white pinball) being bounced back and forth through out the maze of the wonderful store of IKEA. We bought a buffet amongst many other things, but Mark was able to carry all of those away to the car while I was left to stand in line to claim my buffet. Well after pushing my way to the line that I needed, yes I really mean push, (and you don't even have to say excuse me because then you would be an even bigger freak than you already are)there was this cute little chinese man who said "ah engwrish" yes, I was so happy he spoke english. Well, he took my papers and gave me a number to wait for my buffet. I only ended up waiting about 2 minutes and my number was flashing on the screen. I went to claim my buffet and as I was walking up there a lady decided to cut in front of me. I shoved (yes really shoved) her aside and yelled "NO"! I know, I know you are thinking what a rude person who is not showing the love of Jesus Christ very well. However, they will cut in front of you any oppertunity that they can, shove you around and take advantage of you. Alas, I had already been at Ikea for over two hours and I was ready to go home. So she moved out of my way and the cute little chinese man who spoke engwrish gave me my buffet on a very large cart. Well, I turned that cart around and looked up and behold there was a very large mass of Asian people with carts similar to mine looking back at me. I just threw my hands up in the air and shrugged because I literally had no way out. Well, another cute little man who was on the floor bundling up some sticks took pity on me and started pulling my cart out through the crowd. I was out in no time flat. I hopped on an elevator and when I got to the parking garage, there was my wonderful husband walking toward me. I'm pretty sure I've never been happier to see him:)
A cool God story: My friend Carol, who many of you know has been forwarding me emails from the church care team. Well, I got one and this lady had her baby two weeks early by c-section and her ayi had just broken her foot. They were in need of help and the request was for someone's ayi to come in and help them out. When I read the address of where this couple lived it was very familiar. So familiar that it was only the floor above me!!! How's that for knowing God put us right where he wanted us. Well this morning Hong went and helped them out until noon. She was very happy to do it and is going there every morning for the rest of this week.
Another whit was last night at dinner. Elise asked for a piece of carrot cake for dessert and was brought a clean dinner plate. Did you know that carrot cake and dinner plate sound a lot alike:)
Another whit would be that wonderful air mattress that Mark and I are sleeping on. He informed me yesterday that when I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, I launched him out of bed. There's another vision for you. Oh well, I'm in my own home for the first time in almost two months.
One more woe would be buying Jacob new basketball shoes. Imagine the ones we brought from home are already too small. Well, the good news is that you can indeed find shoes to fit those hoofs around here, however the choices are a few and far between and a small fortune. Oh well, he seems to be having fun playing basketball again.
Well I think that should catch you up on our lives once again.
Beth and Wen I sent hugs with Brenda on Sunday for you guys. Thanks for the package.
Love to all!

Yes, everything was in English - no Chinese.

Your comments brought a couple of things to mind. 1) You dancing to ABBA Gold in your kitchen w/the boys when they were younger 2) If you have to push and be rude to not get walked on, then I guess it's a good thing that Andy & Jim taught Elise that lesson when she was 5.

Mark should be happy you have air in your mattress. I knew it was time for us to get a new camping mattress when Mike got up and instead of air, I landed on the metal of the truck bed. Our mattress had a leak and luckily for me, his weight pushed all the air to my side. Oh, and that was the camping trip we forgot our tent stakes and ended up sleeping in the back of his truck.

Yes, Angie & I are your karaoke sisters. We appreciate your singing as much as you appreciate ours. Too bad our husbands and your kids don't appreciate our lovely voices.

Miss you,
Laurie

Laurie, don't lie. The kids TOTALLY love our singing. Especially Spandau Ballet "True".

Your comments on the air mattress brought back a lovely memory for me. One time when we stayed at Laurie's house, I shared that queen size mattress with Elise. I spent the whole night with my butt on the floor while she slept like a princess, plumped up on the air. And then when I got up in morning she hit the floor and actually complained about how uncomfortable it was. I was feeling quite sympathetic. Anyway, the idea of Mark catapulting off the bed made my day! Thanks for all the lively updates!!

Love You All,
Angie

Natalie...I am SO PROUD OF YOU! Some day I'm going to flop onto my side of the waterbed and launch my husband right off and plunk him on the floor! You're my hero! YOU GO GIRL!

Mark, McMurray has now finished in the top 5 or 10 in the last 3-5 races (note my intense concern for accurate knowledge). Needless to say..he's my official new guy! GO JAMIE!

At least Elise doesn't have to worry about all of the extra poinds she gained on her "no carrot cake". What a shock--did she laugh?

Natalie, I can picture you keeping your spot in the line getting your buffet. Maybe that is why God gave you all of that spunk!!! He knew some day you were going to be in China for a spell. Did you laugh after it was all over with and you had a chance to reflect??

I was trying to picture how calmly Bill would have taken being popped out of bed in the middle of the night!! :-)

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

...the blog takes a short recess, while Natalie feverishly and with great enthusiasm arranges and rearranges her long-lost furniture...
