Dear fellow readers, family, and friends,
JACOB'S MAD SKILLZ
As you may have guessed yes Jacob is indeed typing this issue of the blog. I firstly would enjoy talking about the experiences that I have had in Shanghai. I am trying to get the most out of this great experience. My number 1 thing that I have had is that I have learned to like is the food differences and the money. Once you learn how to use the money and bargain you can do almost anything you want. When I went to the knock-off market for the first time I really had a good time because it is very fun to bargain with the shop owners. I love the place that we live it is pretty good size and really close to lots of places. For instance my brothers and I always almost every day ride our bikes to a community college and play soccer. Even though I really don't like playing soccer it is still fun. But what I really love about this place called Shanghai is that you have a lot more freedom then back at home. Like you can ride your bikes everywhere and your parents will basically allow you. Another reason is because back in Michigan I wasn't allowed to watch the Simpson's but now they're my favorite movie to buy from our DVD lady.
Now as said in my title I would like to share some of my accomplishments that I have had. Ranging from school to sports to real life. My school has a different way that our schedule works. So you can have more classes. The reason why I am sharing this with you is because every Day 2 and Day 5 I have religon class. The second class I had was the first time I had played Bible Jepardy. There was this one girl who was feared by all. But when I first played they decided that maybe I was pretty good too. The category's were The Life of Jesus, Miracles, Prophecies, and another one but I forgot it. The questions were either easy, medium, and hard. I was pretty good at all three. Lastly I am on a basketball team and my coach play's really bad defense so it is really esay to school him. So me and my friends had a schooling competition and with JACOB'S MAD SKILLZ I so totally kicked butt.
Lastly I am getting braces tomorrow. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
Love/sincerely,
Jacob Berg

Way to go Jacob! Congrats on the Jeopardy game!
You probably have your braces on by now so....how is your mouth feeling? Is your mom mashing food up for you?
It's good to hear that you are making new friends and having such good times in your new hometown.
Natalie, I feel for you and will try to remember your adventure on the bike. Rich and I have been talking about getting new bikes this summer and it has been a while since I have been on one so I'll try to watch out for the curbs.
We are going to have another grandchild! Last Sunday Ryan and Tiffany announced that they are expecting their first in December! Lots of smiling going on these days.
Hugs to everyone!
Colleen
Jacob,
Nice to hear your comments about your new home and surroundings. It is good that you are playing soccer with your brothers.
It is also good that you have found new freedom. The Simpsons I hear is a great TV show. You remember Andy that Angie use to date? Whenever he would come to our house he always had to stop whatever he was doing when they came on and watch the show.
Maybe you will learn to like soccer if you play it long enough.
Sounds like you are pretty good at basketball. Since I am old, I don't know what "school him" means?? Maybe you can tell me.
I hadn't read the blog since last week so was not aware that your mom had a nasty fall off her bicycle. I hope she is doing ok and on the mend. At least she only hurt herself and didn't run anyone else down with the bike.
I bet you look pretty cool with your braces on!! Do you have colored ones?
Someday I need to figure out how to make myself someone besides anonymous. You know how great I am at figuring things out on the computer.
Keep enjoying yourself and studying hard. We will see you before you know it.
Love, Grandma Berg
Jacob,
It was great to hear from you and all your skills and what it is like for you around Shanghia. It surely brought many smiles and out load laughs by Grandpa and me at your very talented writing skills - keep up the good work and we'll be watching for the next blog from you.
We have a concert to attend at Jefferson tonight for your cousin Michael. It is very warm here today in the 80's.
Hope you are doing okay with your braces - I'm sure Mom bought some drugs that you could take for a couple days until they start feeling better.
Love you, Jacob!
Grandma Ramseyer
Oh Jacob! My funny nephew!
I loved hearing about things from your perspective! It sounds like you will be (or maybe you already are) feared by all, at least when it comes to the Bible Jeopardy Game anyway. That is wonderful, and I am so proud of you. Sounds like you are adjusting well and making the most of this awesome opportunity you have to live in another country. I can't wait to see how studly you look with your braces. How will you keep all the girls away?! ;)
Ryan is going to Chicago tomorrow (5/9/07) to check out the train system he will take to work each day this summer. I think he is going to have a fun time up there. Jason is almost done with school. How much longer do you have? Do you get a long summer break in China like you get in MI?
I really like that you wrote a blog, now maybe Elise, Levi and Noah can each do one too. Then we can hear about China from their eyes.
Take care bud! Love you...Aunt Deb
Sounds like Aunt Angie needs to buy you a set of her flash cards, or maybe she should let Grandma borrow hers so she will understand what you mean.
I'm glad that you got to write in the blog. After last talking to all of you, I thought it would be interesting for everyone else to hear what you guys had to say too.
Uncle Mike has to watch the Simpsons whenever it is on. I bought him a couple DVDs, but he won't watch those, only the episodes on TV. Maybe you can borrow our DVDs when you come home, that is if you haven't already bought them for a $1 from your video lady.
I'm glad you guys are enjoying yourselves and having fun in your new surroundings.
Love, Aunt Laurie
Good for you, Jake Just keep letting them know how much you know!! Enjoy all of the bargaining power you have. I can tell you were made for this type of life. We are proud of you! It is so cool how you are making the best of this experience!!!
Love you,
Aunt Carol
Hey Jacob,
I don't know if you realized it or not, but you misspelled skilllz. There should be three l's. Or maybe I just spell it different from you...
I really enjoyed hearing from you! I'm glad you're all taking turns keeping us informed of how you spend your time. How do you like sleeping on a loft bed? I always wanted bunk beds when I was your age. Aunt Laurie and I shared a room anyway so it would have been ideal. Of course, I would have wanted the top bunk and Aunt Laurie probably wouldn't have liked that. Camping in Grandma and Grandpa's tiny old trailer growing up, I fell off the top bunk once and landed on her. And she's really bony so it wasn't a very comfortable landing. Anyway, I hope you don't fall out of yours. I'm looking forward to hearing from you again!
Love,
Aunt Angie
Angie, I'm laughing my head off at you landing on "bony Aunt Laurie!!!" I remember a certain kid named Jake, with a very bony butt sitting on my lap. I wonder, is there is some relation???
Jake Bob, Mikes said you got your braces on and that they are green, blue, and orange! Wow, what a rainbow of colors! He also said that you are going to live on Mac N Chez and that you are going to get some pudding and shakes. Sounds like a wonderful diet to me. Are you in much pain? Michael's really only hurt for about a half week. He just got his tightened a bit without any trouble. At the end of June he'll get his bottom ones on. Right now his bands are red and white. Any clue why those colors? You guessed it!! - The Jefferson Huskies. He used to have hot pink and silver, but I don't know why those colors.
Can you believe that Matty is home for the summer already? His school year went by fast. He has lots of junk all over the house. Probably something like your house looked when you first moved in. Lots of boxes and barely a path to the bed. Poor Mandy can't even lay down on the floor at night, so for now she is sleeping with "Aunt Lyssa" (remember when you used to call her that?)
I'm going to say goodbye for now, but thanks for writing and sharing all the cool things you are doing. Just one more question for you - Any cute girls around there???
Love ya,
Aunty Beth for all the Kents
