Levi's Letters

Life is good! I have a best friend named Michael Zhou. We're starting China Reports and Michael and I started a Panda song and dance because we're both doing Pandas. In school we're starting a soccer league at school that Noah and I are in. We have Reading At Home (RAH) where you read for 20-30 minutes each night and then right it down on a RAH calendar. We have Great Genre Projects (GGP) where you read a specific genre and then you have to do some kind of report on it. SCIS has grades that aren't letters, but numbers. 6 is an A+, 5 is an A, 4 is a B, 3 is a C, etc. It takes 50 minutes to get to school, but only 40 to get back. It's not that bad because we have our iPods that we can listen to. Technology class is really hard, we have our own labtops and we have to make a photostory out of pictures that we get from our field trip where we're going to 2 museums tomorrow.
I really hate how a lot of people stare at Noah and I just because we're blonde and we look the same. It's really weird how people just squat and poop on the sidewalk and in the bushes.
Sincerely,
Levi

Hello Levi!

Thank you so much for the expertly written details about your days in China! It sounds like you are having a lot of fun! I agree with you that I would not like people staring at me just becasue I had blonde hair. I think they must just be jealous because you are so cute!
Have your mom or dad attach some more pictures. Show us what your bedrooms look like, and other rooms in your house etc. etc. Maybe take a picture of the street right outside your house or something...anything, so we can see what you see everyday!

Love you,
Aunt Deb and the other Graf's

Hi Levi - Nice to hear from you. Sounds like you have a long ride to school and back each day. Those ipods are a life saver in some cases. I like to liten to mine when we are flying. It makes the time go past so much faster, and also drowns out the noises around you.

You will have to sing me the Panda song and show me the dance when you come home this summer. You must be pretty creative to do something like that.

Even though your technology class is hard it sounds like you will learn alot and it will probably get easier for you after awhile. It sounds like a very interesting class and you get to go see new sights.

People just look at you wierd because you are so darn cute. They can't help themselves.

Keep in touch! We will see you soon.

Love Grandma Berg

Hi Levi!

I've never seen anyone squat and poop in the street, but I'm betting that it isn't very pleasant. I think I would be too embarrassed to do it myself, though maybe I would feel different if I grew up that way.

That is really interesting the way they give you grades there. I'm curious if they have an equivalent for C+'s or D-'s? Of course you're so smart you would probably never get grades like that anyway. When you finish your photostory I would be really interested to see it, if that's something you can easily share.

Anyway, it was really nice to hear from you, thanks for the update!!

Love,
Aunt Angie

Levi,
I'm so glad you shared on the blog. You are so fortunate to have such a great culture experience. I like how you told us what a usual day is like. Your mom talked about the Science museum and going on the field trip with you. You'll have to tell us all about it.
Funny how your best friend's name is Michael! I'm curious as to what your new favorite food is in China? If you get a chance let us know.
I'm with you on that pooping on the sidewalk thing!! Yuck. They must not know that is how some germs are spread.
Are you liking soccer more than you did in Midland? Why or why not?
I agree with Aunt Deb that we would like to see pics of your bedrooms, etc. I know that you got loft beds before you left. Can you believe there was a new looking IKEA loft bed at the church rummage sale for only $50! Someone bought it, but I was thinking about it for Michael. The only trouble is that we would have had to get another bed for Matt as well for when he comes home.
Well, I'll say good-bye for now. We miss you.

Don't worry Levi, if you guys continue to look like your father, you will have dark hair soon enough and maybe they'll stop staring. I was trying to imagine myself in such a large number of people and being a minority like you guys are. At least I'm short w/dark hair, but I'm sure I would still stick out.

It is nice to hear about how well you are fitting in with things there and you already have someone you consider a best friend. I never understood why all you guys played soccer when you were little, but now it makes sense. God was preparing you for when you moved to a country where no one knew football.

I love and miss you.

A big hello to Levi - thanks a bunch for sharing with us on the blog. Grandma can hardly wait to get home to read what is happening. You explained things so well, excellent job!!
I have to agree with Grandma Berg and Aunt Deb, they are just jealous how cute & handsome you are that they keep staring at you and shoving to get into your pictures with you.
Those projects you are doing sound just quite interesting and although it may be challenging for you, I'm just sure you'll do very well!
Maybe the other two will write their prospective of things round about them (Elise & Noah) - love to hear from you.
Love to all of you,
Grandma R (&Grandpa)

What a boy you are!! That ride to school must get pretty long but it sounds like you make the best of it. Evidently you don't mind the ayi and the driver singing louder than your ipods!! I'm with Grandma Berg--I want to hear the Panda song when you come home so don't forget it.

Yuk! Pooping on the sidewalk! Who ever heard of it! I wouldn't like it either!!!

Love you,
Aunt Carol

Thank you for your writing piece "from knowledge and experience." At this time you have earned an over all score of 5. Your topic was well organized and developed. There was good use of word choice and voice. You've passed your MEAP for another year.

Can you tell what I've been doing at school? I'm just playing around with you. I know that you don't know me well enough to know that I'm nearly always playing around. You should only take me seriously about 1 time out of 10.
