Yes, we are still here....

Okay, okay, I will blog! It has been a long week in Shanghai doing various stuff as school starts to end. Many people here have ramped up their shopping for the trip home and are also trying to get their homes in a position where they can leave them for almost two months. Goodbye parties have begun for those not returning, and school concerts are complete. We also have had people over house hunting, and have spent time getting to know them and helping out. It is amazing here how everyone is willing to help those they have never met. For those of you who move/relocate a lot, you understand. For those of you who do not, please be willing to help those new people get acclimated. Every little bit helps....

So, now for a little bit on each of us:

I continue to work three days a week in Zhangjiagang. The UNG sightings have lessened with the curtains being re-hung, which is a real bonus! The language barrier is much larger in ZJG, so I have started going back over my Mandarin notes and also begun paying more attention to what is said and going on around me.

Natalie has been busy meeting new people and getting things lined up for her fall return. Bible studies, language lessons, and hosting new families arriving in the fall should keep her busy for awhile. She knows more of what she does than I do, so I will let her fill you all in.

As a couple, we spent a wonderful day at an old water town on Saturday with the Hoag's (Scott and Carol, not Dave and Wendy), Pippenger's, and Bruce Winter. It was amazing to see the Dynastic China mixed-in with the new tourist trap. Highlights of the trip were Natalie purchasing Magic Balls (magnets) and a beautiful hat.

Aaaaggghhhh! As with most things in China, I have run out of time and have to go to work. I will have Natalie try to add to this later. Sorry! Bao zhang! (Take care!) Mark

Hey - I am so glad to be able to check in and find something new on the Berg Blog update as we set here in the Atrium of the Embassy Suites in South Carolina. Conference starts tomorrow night about this time. Grandpa and I spent the afternoon at the the Haywood Mall - very interesting, but expensive so it was pretty much a sightseeing trip.
Thanks for the pictures, too - pretty interesting hat you have there Natalie.
Thanks again and I'll watch for further updates.
Love you all,
Grandma R

Welcome back, Bergs! Sounds like end-of-the-school-year busyness is a global thing. Thanks for sneaking in an update...I thought perhaps you fled the country or something...

Sounds like you're gearing up for a visit to the states. Do you actually get to stay for two whole months? Wow!

Are the Pippengers living in China now?! Or just getting ready to transfer there?

Looking forward to more news...

Hi there
Nice to hear from you again. Glad to hear that you now have curtains again and don't have to look at the naked sights any longer!

Maybe moving up to the plant is a good thing. It is making you learn more of the language so you can communicate with your helper.

Nice hat Natalie. Are you gonna wear that when you come home?

I had taken a break and so just read your part of the blog. Sounds like you are too busy.

Glad to hear that Elise is better. She must have really been scared to come and wake you.

Tell the kids good luck on their exams and we shall see you in 18............

Love, Grandma Berg
