4th of July

Happy 4th of July! Things are starting to go better as we adjust to being back in the States. So far we since we have been here we haven't done much. Church on Sunday was good and afterwards there was a picnic. It was a great chance to catch up with people we haven't seen in a while. We also had Godfather Bortel recast Levi's arm. Now he can get it wet as much as he would like. Swimming and showers will be much easier! The boys also spent Sunday with their brothers, Campbell and Q. Elise has been spending a lot of time with Isaac and has been planning some kind of party. The first round of shopping is complete and now I have a Gilligan hat. No one wants to be seen with me, but it's not like they wanted to in the first place! Today we are camping with my parents. It is just a lazy day sitting around and watching the kids fish. Levi caught a bass that was a keeper, and we will probably continue with fishing throughout the week. We are starting to sleep a little longer, and it will be nice when we can actually stay up past 2100. I'll probably login again next week. Take care for now, Mark

Happy 4th (belated) to you all as well! Sounds like you're having a lovely, relaxing visit so far, catching up with family and friends. Praise God for the Bortels! What would we all ever do without them?!

I've got to tease you a little...when does the time change in your head from 2100 to 9:00 p.m.? It sounds funny hearing you say "2100". (It sounds even funnier re-reading that last sentence and realizing I'm not really "hearing" anything on this blog. Blogs just seem so REAL sometimes!)

Mark will be heading for Europe next week, to visit plants in France and Italy. They may even be able to tour the Ferrari plant. Next best thing to the lifelong dream of actually owning a Ferrari. I image his time perspective will be somewhat warped when he returns, but it must be even more extreme coming from China.

Anyway, hope you all enjoy every moment of your time in the States, and that wherever you go, you wear your Gilligan hat proudly!

:-) Betsy

Hi Natalie~
Welcome back to the US!
I have enjoyed reading your blogs and hearing about all the adventures your family is having. It sort of reminds me of books I have read about the early pioneers and how they had to learn and adjust to a new way of life.

Anyway, say hi to your folks for me and enjoy your vacation. I agree with Betsy...wear the hat with your chin held high!
Hope to see you at church and give you a dose of hugs.
Colleen

Praise God for Dr. Bortel, right, Levi!! Aren't you glad you are back in the states??

Has anyone seen pictures our little Summer Elizabeth Waibel?? A beauty, I'd say! I have fallen in love with her only to have to come home and leave her with her mom. Unfortunately her dad had to be on campus all week (starting his doctorate) without being able to come home until Friday! What a little doll face she is!

Enjoy the states everyone and Have fun with both of the grandparents!
